EDITED 3/26/18 to correct starting date of manufacture and to address P.WRIGHT marked anvils. I have some smithy projects and would be able to put the anvil to good use. The top suface is showing quite a bit of wear, most of the corners are gone. They used only new high grade wrought iron for the body of their anvils. I recently reclaimed an anvil from the depths of the barn. Also, they often have stamped maker’s mark. The most obvious one is the handling holes at the waist and under the base of the anvil. Almost all of them have some identifying features. the reason for this was in their advertisements. Known makers of wrought iron anvils include Peter Wright, Mousehole Forge, Henry Wright, Isaac Nash, and others. While Peter Wrights are one of the better made more popular anvils of their time they also become swayed more than other anvils.
